Last Tuesday Councilmember Bill Rosendahl joined Asian and Pacific Islander (API) Angelenos to welcome newest Board of Public Works (BPW) Commissioner Warren Furutani. He brings a lifetime of public service to BPW. In his twenties, Furutani co-chaired the Manzanar Committee. His leadership was instrumental in preserving the Manzanar War Relocation Center as a National Historic Site. Furutani’s notable firsts incude first Asian-American elected to Los Angeles Unified School Board. Furutani also served on the Los Angeles Community College District Board of Trustees and the California State Assembly representing the 55th District. Councilmember Rosendahl looks forward to working with Furutani to complete the Venice Japanese American Memorial Marker at the intersection of Lincoln and Venice Blvds. Welcome Warren!
