Rosendahl Toy Drive Adds to Holiday Cheer (even in January!)

A group of Westside kids had that new toy glow over the weekend in Del Rey.

The Mar Vista Gardens Toy Give Away took place on Sunday at Mar Vista Gardens. The annual event happens in January to coincide with El Dia de Reyes, also known as the Feast of the Epiphany

Back in December, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl put the call out to constituents for the toy drive. Items were collected during the annual Winter Shelter Donation Drive.

Rosendahl also enlisted the help of Paramount Studios who donated dozens of its family friendly movies on DVD, and the California Highway Patrol (CHP) who generously provided the Councilmember’s office with gifts from the CHiPs for Kids program and a children’s bike.

CD11 field deputy Cecilia Castillo says it took four car loads to deliver the gifts. Rosendahl says the annual event is possible because of the volunteers and the generosity of organizations like Paramount and CHP.

“I appreciate the wonderful partnership my office has with both Paramount and CHP,” said Rosendahl. “These two organizations have really stepped up and helped make kids in my district feel special.”
