Rosendahl Issues Statement on LAX Runway Recommendation

Los Angeles City Councilmember Bill Rosendahl released the following statement on the  Los Angeles World Airport (LAWA) recommendation to separate the two northern runways at Los Angeles International Airport by 260 feet.

“I am for modernization, yes; expansion, no.  There are some exciting projects that are part of the preferred alternative, including an Automated People mover and a possible extension of the Green Line directly into the Central Terminal Area at LAX. As for a proposal to reconfigure the North Runway, we need to hear from the public before moving forward on any decision. We will have that opportunity once this comes to City Council.”

The Los Angeles Board of Airport Commissioners heard the proposal on Monday and did not take action. The proposal  is one of several to help improve airport safety according to airport staff.

The 11th Council District includes the airport and surrounding communities.

Bill Rosendahl is the vice chair of the City’s Trade, Commerce and Tourism committee.
