The United Way of Greater Los Angeles wants to make strides to end homelessness on the streets of LA.
HomeWalk 2012 – the Walk to End Homelessness in LA will take place on Saturday, November 17th at Exposition Park.
HomeWalk has raised both funds and awareness by mobilizing 28,000 walkers, raising $2.2 million and moving 12,000 homeless individuals into permanent housing since its establishment in 2007.
“The United Way of Greater LA partners with non-profit agencies in many neighborhoods in the 11th District — everywhere from Venice to Marina del Rey — to serve the people who need support the most,” said Jessica Yan, Volunteer Manger for the United Way. “We hope you will help us get the word out about our efforts.”
Proceeds from this year’s event will go twice as far thanks to a generous grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation which will match – dollar for dollar – all contributions of $100 or more to HomeWalk 2012.
The Laker’s star Kobe Bryant is the honorary chair of HomeWalk 2012.
For more information including the time, date and location of the event, see the United Way website.
During his time in office, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl has worked tirelessly to find permanent housing and supportive services for homeless in the 11th District, like his Roadmap to Housing initiative has seen great success .
