Mark Twain Bell Ringers Perform at Two Olympic Venues

Councilmember Bill Rosendahl just received word that the Mark Twain Middle School bell ringers will perform at two premiere events in London.

The student musicians will perform today behind the world famous Trinity Choir from Perth, Australia at Southwark Cathedral, and then later tonight at the Mayor’s Celebration of London at Victoria Park against the backdrop of the Tower Bridge.

“I’m absolutely delighted that these Venice-area Title I students are able to experience this once in a lifetime moment,” said Rosendahl. “I’m thrilled that they are representing the City of Angels and I can’t wait to welcome them back home when they return from their trip.”

The Venice-area middle school was invited to perform during the Olympic games at several venues across London. Councilmember Bill Rosendahl and musical artist Johnny Irion helped the students raise money to make the trip across the pond.

“The bell ringers are on their game,” said their principal, Dr. Rex Patton. “And frankly, I have never seen 12 and 13 year old students with more patience, perseverance, and professionalism perform before in all my years in education.”

Patton and the school chaperones have been keeping a blog of the trip.  They’re also posting daily updates on Twitter.
