Councilman Bill Rosendahl announced today that the National Weather Service recognized the City of Los Angeles as a TsunamiReady and StormReady city.
The City of Los Angeles achieved this recognition by successfully passing a comprehensive application and inspection review process of its communication infrastructure, community outreach and education program, and tsunami and storm related planning and response protocols.
This increased level of severe weather and tsunami awareness will help reduce the loss of life and property from these potentially catastrophic threats.
The City of LA is the largest city to have the distinction from the NWS.
