Sunset Bridge Demolition Continues Wednesday Night

Here is the latest information received by CD11 staff regarding the Sepulveda Pass Improvement Project and the road closures associated with the construction and demolition of the Sunset Bridge:

The northern portion of the Sunset Bridge demolition continues on Wednesday night for the final phase of a 12-night endeavor.

North and southbound Sepulveda Boulevard between Montana Avenue and Church Lane will be closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. on Nov. 9, 14 and 15.

Northbound Sepulveda traffic will be detoured to eastbound Montana Avenue, to northbound Veteran Avenue, to westbound Sunset Boulevard, to northbound Church Lane and back to Sepulveda.

Southbound Sepulveda traffic will be detoured to southbound Church Lane, to eastbound Sunset Boulevard, to southbound Veteran Avenue, to westbound Montana Avenue and back to Sepulveda.

The project is one of many I-405 Sepulveda Pass improvement projects which aim to widen the freeway to support a 10-mile long HOV lane.  Although the bridge demolition will be followed by 12 months of reconstruction, Metro plans to keep two lanes of traffic open for use during that time.

For more information on the project, please visit http://www.metro.net/projects/I-405/ and thanks to our friends over at Patch for helping spread the word about road closures related to the project.
