Occupy LA demonstrators are camped outside City Hall in downtown Los Angeles to stand up against corporate greed, big bank profits and joblessness.
The grass roots movement stems from a similar event in New York City that started in September (KNBC). Since then, protesters have organized across the country, inlcuding one of the larger groups here in LA.
“You’re making a difference in democracy by expressing yourself,” said Councilmember Bill Rosendahl earlier this week when he and three of his colleagues visited the City Hall campsite. “We must continue to protect and reinforce the middle class.” Hear the councilman’s Soundcloud.
The next day. Councilmember Rosendahl and his council colleague Richard Alarcon introduced a resolution to stand in solidarity with the Occupy L.A. movement (resolution). The item will be discussed at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
