We’re trying out a new feature here in the CD11 newsroom – it’s a quick podcast on some of the events taking place in the coming week in the 11th District.

Olympic Boulevard will close for five nights between Cotner and Beloit streets starting August 29th.  Contractors are installing pre-cast girders to allow for the expansion of the HOV lane which will affect the Olympic Boulevard underpass at the 405 freeway. Construction will take place between 9pm and 6am and is subject to change. All through traffic will be detoured to Sepulveda Boulevard.  More information can be found here.

Councilman Bill Rosendahl is encouraging residents to learn practical tools to reduce your carbon footprint! Sustainable Works.org is offering a series of green living workshops which will teach you how to reduce your utility bills. The workshops will start in Brentwood on August 30th with others scheduled throughout the district over the coming months. More information on the workshops can be found here.

Also on Tuesday, Metro is holding its final public workshop on a proposal to bring the Green Line to LAX,  The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 30, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Veterans’ Memorial Complex (4117 Overland) in Culver City.  Read more on this event by clicking on the url: http://www.metro.net/projects/lax-extension/
