Whether you plan on having a backyard gathering with family and friends, or you plan to soak up some sun and community spirit, there are a few Fourth of July events that have become a tradition on the Westside.
12th Annual Westchester Fourth of July Parade
The theme this year for Westchester’s Fourth of July parade is “A Tribute to America’s Pastimes.” More than 2,000 local participants are expected to march with floats dedicated to American traditions. This year, the grand marshall of the parade will be Los Angeles Kings sportscaster Bob Miller.
The parade starts at the intersection of Manchester and Loyola Blvd. at 11 a.m.
Fourth of July Run and Parade in the Pacific Palisades
Thousands of Pacific Palisadians and out-of-town visitors are expected to attend this annual event.
The action begins at 8:15 a.m. with the 35th annual Palisades-Will Rogers 5/10K Run, which starts at the entrance to the Pacific Palisades Recreation Center. This adult run is followed by a half-mile Kids’ Fun Run.
At 2 p.m., the Carey Peck skydiving team is scheduled to land at the intersection of Sunset and Swarthmore to herald the start of the Palisades Americanism Parade at Bowdoin and Via de la Paz.
“‘Leave It To Beaver’ actor Jerry Mathers is the grand marshal.
