Here’s a recap of noteworthy agenda items and policy issues that the Los Angeles City Council heard on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
TRADE, COMMERCE, AND TOURISM COMMITTEE
Ontario Airport
This morning, the Trade, Commerce and Tourism (TCT) Committee, listened to City of Ontario Councilmember Alan Wapner and Westchester community leader Denny Schneider during a hearing regarding LA/Ontario Airport (ONT).
TCT today instructed the City Administrative Officer to complete a study of options for growing ONT, and encouraging the regionalization of air traffic in Southern California.
Councilmember Bill Rosendahl is the Vice Chair of this committee.
CITY COUNCIL MEETING
AGENDA ITEMS, MOTIONS AND RESOLUTIONS
New West Charter School
The Los Angeles City Council voted on several motions related to New West Charter School. Here’s a summary of the items that were voted on:
- The City Council approved a conditional use permit and denied the appeals
- The City Council upheld the DOT Traffic Analysis
- The City Council voted to scale down the project, reduceg the number of students from 875 to 750, and include a mandatory off-site shuttle program to reduce the traffic impact
- The Council decision also included a guaranteed preference for local kids attending Brockton Elementary School
Expo Line Construction Authority
Councilmembers Bernard Parks and Jan Perry appointed Councilmembers Rosendahl and Paul Koretz as the City’s representatives on the Board of the Exposition Metro Line Construction Authority. The first phase of the project to La Cienega Boulevard is expected to open this year.
