In this video, Councilman Bill Rosendahl spoke with Jim Featherstone, head of the Emergency Management Department in the City of Los Angeles.
Rosendahl and Featherstone talk about obtaining a tsunami warning system for the coastal communities.
During the interview, Featherstone said this is a regional issue and the City needs to work with County leaders to get a system for the coastal communities in Los Angeles.
Featherstone also said each siren would cost about $50,000 – for a total of $5-7 million dollars to install the system along the coast.
Public safety is a top priority for Councilman Rosendahl. As you may recall, the National Weather Service recently recognized the City of LA as being a StormReady and TsunamiReady city. EMD accomplished this with the help of policy directed by Councilmember Rosendahl. Rosendahl secured funding to provide educational material for those who live in the City’s coastal communities.
