UPDATE: 3500 without power in the 11th District
The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power posted this update on the service interruptions across the City:
As the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) continues its restoration efforts after a major wind storm, LADWP reports approximately 94,000 of its 1.4 million electric customers are without power this morning. Power has already been restored to more than 122,000 customers since the wind storm began on Wednesday.
LADWP Power Crews worked throughout the night and continue to work around the clock to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. At this time, the current estimated time of restoration for customers experiencing outages is 24 – 48 hours. Many customers will experience shorter outages, but customers experiencing outages should be prepared for up to 24 – 48 hours. LADWP asks for the patience of our customers as we continue to work to restore service during this major wind storm.
Due to this unusual weather event, the National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning for Los Angeles County. The Los Angles Fire Department tells us the warning comes with parking restrictions in certain areas of the 11th District.
